2 Months and Growing....

Wow, another month has come and gone. Lucas, I love you so much, but I just ask that you slow down for a while. You are growing up too fast for your mommy! We recently took you to your 2 month check-up and here are your stats:

Weight: 12lbs 14.5oz (75th percentile)
Height: 22 inches (50th percentile)
Head: 40.6 cm (50th percentile)

Lucas you are starting to become our short little chubby boy. I just absolutely love to pinch your cute cheeks and thunder thighs. You get cuter by the second!

Throughout this last month you have had so many new developments. One area you continue to develop in by the day is your sweet personality. I am thoroughly enjoying this part of your development and am just trying to soak it all in! You have the sweetest giggle, accompanied with the most precious smile that melts my heart every time I see it.

During your second month, there was always one specific person who could always brighten your day. I wish that I could say that it was me, your mommy, but it wasn't. You were such a daddy's boy during this month. Every time daddy walked into the room or if you heard his voice, you would get the biggest smile on your face and would start to giggle. You could just sit and stare at him for hours and as soon as daddy would stare back, you would get overly excited. Sometimes you would get so excited that it would give you the hiccups. I have absolutely loved watching you interact with your daddy. Even though I really wanted you to stare at me as much as you stared at daddy, I really enjoyed watching you show your love to him.

Lucas, you need to know how much your daddy loves you and how much he shows it to you! I haven't seen a daddy that has had more desire to be with their children than your daddy. Your dad wakes up early every morning to give you your morning feeding and to play with you before he goes to work. As soon as he gets home from work, he immediately comes to get you from mommy and play with you before you take your nap. If he is outside, then you are outside, if he is studying, then you are studying. There isn't an area of his life that he doesn't involve you in it. He loves you so much!

There were so many great memories from your 2nd month. I hope that I captured them all on camera:

The first main event of your 2nd month was walking (strolling) in The Race for the Cure event. Daddy's friend ,Kevin, allowed us to walk with his family in honor of his mother, Kathy Earl, who passed away from breast cancer. In honor of Kathy and of the race, we felt it would be appropriate for you to wear a onesie that says "I love boobs." Lucas, can you believe that at 5 weeks you were in your first 5K?!? Daddy and I loved having you there to participate in such a great event.

Later that day, we went over to Grandma and Grandpa Grable's house to celebrate Mother's Day. When we got there, it was time for you to eat. Look how much your cousins, Gage and Carter, love you! They came in to see you and wanted to help feed you. They are always concerned about you and want to make sure you are always okay.

On Mother's Day we went over to Grandma Barton's house to celebrate Mother's Day with her as well as my first Mother's Day. While we were there, we got out this chair that she has bought for you and your cousin Jake. You absolutely LOVE this chair and are so intrigued by it. You sat there for an hour just staring at the fun toys and the vibrant colors.

You are so great about falling asleep on your own. You love your play time, but you really love your nap time as well. Mommy loves to watch you sleep!

You went to your first Bees game! Daddy was so excited to have you go to your first professional baseball game. It was a bit chilly, so we had to bundle you up. Mommy loves this picture of your sweet face.

You started smiling this month!!!!! Here is a great picture of you smiling at your Grandpa Barton.

Daddy makes sure to involve you in every aspect of his life. Here are you and Daddy studying for the LSAT test. Daddy would read you a question and you would giggle back your answer.

Like Father, like Son......need I say more?

This is Daddy's tradition with all the babies in the family. He made sure to always put his hat on your cousins, Gage and Carter, as soon as he could. Now it is your turn to always wear Daddy's hat around.

You finally got to meet the person you were named after! This was a very exciting day for your Mommy and Daddy. On Memorial Day, the Grable family all gather's around your Great Grandpa Grable's grave to honor him. You were named after your Great Grandpa Grable because of the amazing person he was when he was here. Your Daddy has a lot of great memories about his life with his Grandpa and he will share those as you grow up.

Lucas, I love you so much! I can't imagine my life without you or your Daddy. You both bring me so much joy every day. Thank you for all your smiles, giggles and cuddles that you give me. I can't wait to see what your 3rd month brings us.

My Baby.....

Lucas, I can't believe how fast you are growing! Today you are one month old and getting bigger by the second. I can't believe what a happy and go lucky baby you are. Your daddy and I are so in love with you and are so excited to be a part of your life.

Over the past month you have had many discoveries.
You LOVE tummy time, especially when Lulu is involved. Lulu is so protective of you and loves to be with you every second of the day. If you are asleep, she is asleep....if you are doing tummy time, she is doing tummy time. If we are changing you, Lulu is sitting right next to the changing table. You two are best friends and she won't ever leave your side. Bath time is our favorite family time activity! Actually, I think Daddy likes bath time the most. Daddy won't let Mommy give you a bath without him being there. Daddy loves you so much and loves to be apart of all your new experiences. You love the binkies that your Aunt Stacie and Uncle Kyle gave you. I bought you 3 binkies, that I think are really cute. However, you don't want to have anything to do with them. You only want your green binkies. Thank you Aunt Stacie and Uncle Kyle!
You have discovered that you can suck on your thumb! Mommy wasn't getting you fed fast enough, so you found something that would keep you comforted while you had to wait. Daddy has taught you to hold your binkie in your mouth by placing your hand over your binkie. You obviously want to make sure your thumb doesn't fall out of your mouth and are holding your hand in place. You have discovered your tongue and love to always be using it. Whether you are eating, hanging out or sleeping, your tongue is always showing. You are such a fast learner and so strong. Your Daddy loves to teach you new things and is always working with you. In a month he has taught you how to hold your head up and how to move your head while on your tummy. Now, your Mommy and Daddy are working on rolling over with you. We can't believe how mobile you are already and how close you are to rolling over. Here you are on your side, which you got there with minimal help. Daddy and I think you will be walking within a couple months :)
You love going to watch Daddy play softball. You and Mommy sit by the outfield, so that we can see Daddy make all of his amazing catches and throw the ball to get an out. Daddy always tells us how much he loves looking through the fence and seeing us watching him. Softball is our Monday night family time and we all have so much fun!
You love having visitors over, especially family. Your Uncle Mark and Cousin Kaylen loved visiting you and holding you.
You loved celebrating Mommy's 27th birthday!!!! We had a great day with Daddy, building the patio and planting the beautiful flowers and shrubs in the background. Daddy, you and me worked as a family to build this area of our yard.
Lucas.....Daddy and I love you so much! You have completed our lives and have helped us to become better people. I can't believe a month has gone by so fast and I am a little sad that you are getting so big so fast. However, we look forward to all the fun times we will have in your second month!
We love you little man,
Mommy and Daddy

Lucas' Mom

Over the past two weeks, yes...Lucas is two weeks old now, I have been trying to determine what kind of Mom I can be. I am surrounded by amazing women/moms who seem to be "Super Moms". They have the time to take millions of pictures of their children, blog about them, take them out for activities and still seem to have time for themselves. Yes, these are the Super Moms.

I haven't felt like that is the kind of Mom that I can be. I would LOVE to be that Mom, but do not feel it is in the cards for me. After two weeks of comparing myself to others, I had to stop and figure out what I had to offer. Therefore, I have come to the conclusion of the type of Mom that I can and want to be for Lucas:
I want to be the Mom that will drop everything to go out and dig in the dirt. I want to be the Mom that will spend the entire Saturday watching a sports event and cheering my son on. I want to be the Mom that can be okay if my house is a little dirty, if it means that I am out on an adventure with Lucas. I am okay with not being the most creative/crafty, organized or cleanest Mom. I don't want to be "Super Mom".....I just wanted to be Lucas' Mom. Whenever Lucas thinks back on his life, I want to be in his memories. I want him to have fun stories to tell of things that we use to do together.

So from here on out, I am not going to sweat the small stuff. If my floors go one or two days without being cleaned, I will be okay with that. If I am not taking pictures of Lucas all the time, I will be okay with that. If my routine doesn't go according to plan, I will be okay with that (we all know that will be hard for me). Just as long as I am out having fun with my son, everything else can wait.

I am going to focus on being "Lucas' Mom" and not "Super Mom".

Here are some pics from the past 2 weeks with Lucas. He is such a stud!

Lucas Goss Grable

Welcome to the world my sweet baby boy! You are already such an amazing boy with so many talents and new discoveries each and every second. I am really surprised at how alert you have been within your first 24 hours of life. I can see you following the sounds with your eyes and intently focusing on what you hear. You have truly amazed me already and I am more than grateful that I was the person chosen to be your mother.

Lucas, always know how much your Daddy and I love you. We have loved you from the very first moment we learned that we were expecting your arrival. Throughout the pregnancy you really have shown your true personality and have made both your Daddy and me laugh. One of my favorite memories, while I was pregnant, was the way you and your Daddy would play. You loved it when Daddy would push on your hand, elbow, knee or foot and "chase" you around in my belly.

Within the first day, Daddy and I have determined that you are going to be our little soccer player. You were really good at kicking while in Mommy's tummy, were great at kicking while you were being delivered and have been really good at kicking with every diaper change. You are going to be our little all star.
Lucas, we are so happy to finally have you here. We look forward to all of our special memories that are yet to come.
Love......your Mommy and Daddy
