8 Month....Jumping Bean

Jump, jump, jump, jump.....and more jumping. You LOVE jumping and will jump anywhere, on anything, at any time. Your favorite is to have someone hold under your armpits and let you jump on their lap or on the floor. You will just jump and laugh for minutes on end. You have such strong legs and you love to give them a good workout. Just like I said the day you were born, you are going to be my little soccer player.

Your 8th month was a lot of fun. You had so many more new developments and new discoveries that it made each day more exciting than the one before. Some of the things you did this month are:

  • You have learned that if you grunt, Mommy or Daddy will respond to you. Now whenever you want attention or want something, you will just continually grunt until you get it. It is so cute to hear you.

  • You can't quite talk yet, but that hasn't stopped you from getting in yelling matches with everyone. You love to grunt or yell and if someone responds, you return the grunt or yell louder than they did. This usually continues on and on and on for a couple mins and then ends with you giggling.,

  • You are becoming more alert and more interactive with everyone. You are so fun to be around and have such a chill/relaxed attitude.

  • You still prefer your Daddy over anyone else. You get so excited when he walks in the room and will have a smile from ear to ear.

  • Unfortunately, it couldn't be all fun and games this month. You had another round of Croup, but you were a trooper and got through it with minimal upsets. You and Mommy are starting to get a good system in place on treating Croup.

You are getting so big and so handsome! You, Daddy and MommyYou love to crawl by Lulu, around Lulu and even over the top of Lulu. You two are going to be the best of friends. You are really starting to love Grandma Barton's tub of balls. You have figured out how to pick up the balls and throw them. You just sit in this tub, throw balls and giggle.Look at that breathtaking smileYou and Daddy cuddling together on a Saturday morningYou got to celebrate Daddy's 27th birthday!!! You and Daddy are looking at the cake that Mommy madeYou are such a great helper! Especially when it comes to unwrapping birthday giftsHaving fun with Lulu.Could you get any cuter???You absolutely amazed me with your strength and intelligence. You crawled over to the floor vent and started fiddling with it. You then realize that you could pick it up out of the floor, which you did. The amazing part is that you put it back in the floor and then crawled away. Had I not been watching you, I would have never known you took the floor vent out and played with it. Such a smart boy.You love to be on the ground, mobile and playing with your toys.Mommy had a photo shoot with you one morning. You were just a happy baby this morning and I couldn't pass up taking pictures of your amazing smileYou are graduating to big boy food! You have a pacifier that Mommy puts food into and then you can bite and eat it. You started with bananas and ended with apples. Why take the time to crawl around something when you can just crawl through it? Instead of playing in the Exasaucer, you now love to crawl through it.This picture just makes Mommy laugh. You and the dogs can't wait for Daddy to throw the ball! You really enjoy walking and will always try to walk when Mommy or Daddy hold your hands. This is the first big snowfall of winter! You love when Mommy cleans the house, especially when she vacuums. You always try to play with the vacuum and will follow it all over the house. Cleaning time is one of your favorite times. You also really love when Mommy is folding laundry. You love to roll in the clean clothes and unfold the clothes that Mommy has folded. This is your favorite sleeping position. This is what Daddy and Mommy call your "Stinkbug" position. We will always come in to find you on your tummy with your knees tucked under you and your thumb in your mouth.Every year we go to hang out with Mommy's friends for the "Annual Friend's Thanksgiving." This year you got to come, meet and play with Carson, Brody and Bailey.Your 1st Thanksgiving!!! You are teething, can you tell? Look at that slobber!

We have had so much fun with you this month. You kept us laughing and in awe with you everyday. Thank you for the spirit you bring to our small family. You continually make Daddy and Mommy better people.

We love you

7 Months.....Oh the Adventures

Wow....7 months....who would have thought it would come so quickly. I am really enjoying your new stage in life. You are extremely interactive, curious and full of life. You still study your environment, objects and people, but now you interact with everything and everyone. Once you are done studying, whatever it is you are studying, you then want to know how it works. You will pick the object up and roll it around, you will touch walls, windows, etc, and you also touch and grab people's faces. I have really enjoyed watching you experience new situations this month.

Some things that happen this month, that I didn't get a picture of are:
  • You started crawling - you don't quite understand how to get your knees under you, but you have figured out how to army crawl. You have a great new sense of freedom now.
  • You LOVE talking! You must have gotten this from your Mommy. You talk a lot during the day, but you talk most during the times after you are put down for your naps or to go to bed. You lay in your crib and talk to yourself for about 5 mins before you finally fall asleep.
  • You make sure that you say "Da Da" whenever you see Daddy. You are such a smart kid.
  • You throw temper tantrums now. These trantrums last one for a few seconds, but it is long enough for you to make your point and for Mommy and Daddy to laugh. You tighten your hands into fists, straighten your arms and legs and growl until your face turns red. It is hilarious!
To start off your 7th month, you were teething. You got your 2 bottom teeth in within the first week. You were completely miserable and Daddy and I did the best we could to help you feel better. At one point, all you needed was Mommy to just hold you while you slept. Needless to say, by the pictures below, it was a really exhausting night and morning for me.One of my favorite new skills has been watching you eat. At the beginning of the month, you thought that you couldn't swallow your food unless you put your thumb in your mouth to suck on. Meal times ended up getting very messy. However, by the end of the month you figured out how to swallow on your own and now you are a Pro eater. You have also figured out that if you drop some of your food on the ground, or if you hang your arm over the side, the doggies will come over to liked all the food up. You love having them around at all times. This month you also started eating more solid foods. We got you rice wafers that dissolve in your mouth. You love trying to chew your foods and really have enjoyed eating the wafers. Just like everything you eat, if always ends up all over your face. You have really grow to love your daddy so much that you can't stop staring at him. Whenever your daddy comes into a room, you will just sit and stare at him until he stares back at you. As soon as he does, you smile, giggle and then go back to what you were doing. However, about 1 minute later you start staring at him again. It is pretty obvious that your daddy is the favorite. Daddy can't be in the room when it is time to eat, because he is too distracting that you never turn back around to eat.Oh I just love you so much! You have your own DUCKIE bath! Bath time is the best time!!!Mommy had to go on a work trip to Washington, D.C. this month. This is the first time that I have left you for more than a couple hours. It was definitely hard to leave you, but you really enjoyed having a couple "Guy's Nights" with Daddy.

Here is Mommy at the Washington MonumentAt the Lincoln MemorialAt the White HouseOne of Scott's cousins came into town for a quick visit. Her name is Diana and she lives in California with her husband and kids. This was the very first time that she was able to meet you. Her daughter Eden does not like babies and didn't want to hold you. We forced her to sit next to her mom and get a picture.Grandma Barton is so much fun to play with. Whenever we go over to her house, she gets down on the ground and you and her play with all the toys together. One big toy she has is a tub full of these balls. We put you in there and you were terrified! So to help you get over your fear, Daddy decided to dump all the balls on you both.Ever since then, you love to play in your tub of balls. This month you found out that your Uncle Nick and Aunt Morgan are going to have another baby. This means another cousin for you to play with!!!Uncle Kyle and Aunt Stacie came down to Salt Lake and we were able to meet them and Grandma Barton for lunch. You had a blast playing with them and thought it was funny when you would drool on Uncle Kyle. If you started to drool, even a tiny bit, Uncle Kyle would quickly pass you back over to Mommy. You really do not like to sit in your own seat at the restaurants. You would much rather sit in someone's lap and try to throw their plate, silverware and whatever else you can get your hands on, on to the floor. Here you are throwing a cute little temper tantrum in hopes that Mommy would rescue you from this awful chair. With a little help, you can drink out of your own glass!!! You love drinking out of glasses now and would do it all day if you could. Sippy cups are for babies! One great thing about Mommy having Fridays off of work is that we can surprise Daddy and have lunch with him. You and your Daddy are always up to something. You love playing, rough housing and just being with him. You giggle all the time whenever he is around. Lucas, you really do have the best daddy in the world! We got to celebrate Mommy's favorite holiday this month....HALLOWEEN! For your first year, Daddy and I thought it would be fantastic to dress you up as a Muscle Man! We were able to go over to Grandpa Barton's house to trick-or-treat and have lunch. Great Grandma Barton (Grandma Grandma) came over as well. You loved showing everyone your costume. Grandma Barton thought you were the coolest muscle man she has ever seen. Grandma Barton even gave you a Halloween Treat!Grandpa Barton has a big basket of full size candy bars. You couldn't pass up a chance to pick out a treat for yourself.Even though you were in the middle of Croup again, you were still the happiest little boy on earth while Daddy and Mommy took you around to the grandparents for Halloween.

Lucas, we love you so much. You have just been a blast and we have absolutely no idea what we would do without you. You keep us laughing everyday and we look forward to all of the fun times we will have with you in the future.

Love,

Mommy and Daddy
