March 19, 2008

March 19, 2008 has been the best day of my life……so far. This is the day that the love of my life, proposed to me. As a little girl, I have always imagined different ways that I would like to be proposed to. I couldn’t have dreamed up or imagined a more perfect way than the way Scott proposed.

Scott left on March 12th for spring break with his friends to Florida. This was the hardest and longest week for me to get through. I never knew that I could love and care about someone so much that it could hurt for them to be gone for so long. Scott, being the amazing person he is, already knew that it was going to be hard for me. So, he put together surprises for me for each day he was gone. Each night I would get a phone call from his mom telling me that she had another delivery for me. Each present was so different from the first and very thoughtful. He even sent me a dozen roses and chocolates to my work for one of the days he was gone. I felt so special!

He flew home on March 19th and he had given me the wrong flight number. He is starting to know me too well; he already figured out that I would track his flight. Scott was in SLC before I thought he would be and was already preparing for the proposal. During the day my mom had emailed me asking if I would go to her place to pick up a “welcome home” gift she had bought for Scott. I was feeling rushed for the day and didn’t think I would have time to get home from work, get ready for the night, pick up the gift and be back for our dinner reservations (which we didn’t really have). I talked to Scott after I had gotten off of work and he said he had just got his bags and was headed home to get ready. He told me to get ready and run to my mom’s to get the gift. Needless to say, I was a bit reluctant on going over to my mom’s. The only thing I wanted to do was see Scott and not have to run around everywhere. I missed him so much!

I finally showed up at my mom’s, determined to get the present and leave in as little time as possible. As soon as I opened up the front door to her condo, I was surprised with rose petals at my feet. They led me up the stairs, into the condo and finally to Scott. He was standing in the living surrounded by lit candles and flowers. This was the first time I had seen him since he left for spring break, so I burst into tears. He hugged me, kissed me and told me how much he loved me. Then he got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him. I forgot to say yes, because I was so excited…..so he had to clarify about 1 minute after he had asked.

Life couldn’t be more perfect. Here are some pictures of the condo and us after we got engaged.
